Mableton Doctor Sues BellSouth
Referring to BellSouth's verbal order for "a written promise to remove all Christian content from your signature" in exchange for rescinding their threat of service suspension as the reason for the lawsuit, a Mableton physician contends that BellSouth does not have the authority to restrict an American citizen's right to free speech and worship, which are rights explicitly protected by the Constitution. According to Dr. Andrew Chung, a prominent Mableton cardiologist, tacitly allowing BellSouth to infringe upon these protected rights is in essence allowing BellSouth to continue in the sin of "rebelling against what God has instituted" which is the Constitution of the United States. "Since choosing to be reborn of water and the Holy Spirit, during my walk with Christ, He has taught me that sins of omission are the same as sins of commission," explained Dr. Chung, "and so my Lord would have me tell BellSouth to stop sinning."
When asked what Dr. Chung hopes that BellSouth will do in response to this lawsuit, the Mableton cardiologist replied, "it is my hope that BellSouth will repent by publicly stating in writing that they will choose to respect the freedoms protected by the laws of the governing authority of these United States. They will have an opportunity to do this during the mediation that will be requested prior to the case being tried in open court. It is written in Romans 13:2 that 'he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves' and so BellSouth will be choosing whether to have God's judgment brought against them." When asked how other concerned citizens may help, Dr. Chung replied, "First, pray that the people representing BellSouth will find the wisdom to repent. Second, inform others about the need for continued prayer. Third, if so moved, consider writing to BellSouth's CEO, Mr. Duane Akerman, so that through you, God will inform Mr. Akerman of His might and awesome power so that BellSouth's CEO will know firsthand that God's judgment should be feared."
In an earnest attempt to mediate this dispute, Dr. Andrew Chung met with the attorneys representing BellSouth Corporation. According to Dr. Chung, they asked what amount of nuisance money would be required to have him drop the lawsuit and again they received his request for a written promise to never again ask their customers to remove the Christian content in the signatures of their electronic communications. The BellSouth attorneys turned this offer down as unacceptable. They also stated that Mr. Akerman has adamantly refused any meetings with the Mableton cardiologist. Dr. Chung will be available during the next on-line chat in Paradise to answer questions about this and other matters especially medical ones that are asked by the on-line audience.
