Building Paradise One Stone at a Time
As he surveyed the land by shielding his eyes from the bright sun overhead, Tommy Smith sees the stone bridge that will eventually serve as an access point to the Silver Comet Trail.
With large sweeps of his hand, this man, who looks large enough to single-handedly man-handle the stonehenge-sized rocks that have come from his family's mountain home in North Carolina, paints his vision of fantastic waterfalls and cliffs that will flank the Paradise "spur" of the Silver Comet Trail as it winds into the showroom where visitors can rest their exercise-weary limbs while getting refreshments from the Silver Comet Fountain, which had its grand-opening on 10/1/05 for Meet and Greet in Paradise coinciding with Hands On Atlanta Day, in a setting that is as spectacular as what they have experienced outside.
He and his team have been working non-stop since the first of May to transform the abandoned property formerly known as Picket's Mill Nursery (and Loveless Nursery before that) to a venue that not only showcases Paradise Concepts "water features" but has become home to the "Go Red" for Women Health Fairs and other events sponsored by either the Wellness Foundation or other local civic organizations. Many attendees of the Health Fairs have said they are returning to find out what's new at Paradise Concepts. As you can see from the pictures that accompany this article, they have not been disappointed.
Even the bathroom has become a functional "water feature" work of art, where there are two waterfalls. The upper waterfall is for grown-ups while the lower waterfall is within easy reach of the children. A window frame has been converted into a mirror and there are rabbits peering out from the painted mural backdrop. The soap dish blends into the rockscape and becomes part of the adventure during this visit to the bathroom. It is little wonder that this venue has become a place for families to gather to form memories that will easily last a lifetime. See for yourself by driving to 4419 Floyd Road, Mableton, GA 30126 where Floyd crosses the Silver Comet Trail 0.7 mi south of the East-West Connector and 1.3 mi north of the Mable House Amphitheatre.
